The Friday before Winter Break started, all of the girls had their holiday parties. The 1st grade classes had a "Tacky the Penguin" theme. They were supposed to dress "tacky" and did crafts and games based on this cute book. Mia went to great lengths to pick out her tacky outfit. . .zebra hair flower, tie-dyed shirt, leopard pants, black Valentine socks and pink sparkly shoes. She looked very SPECIAL! One dad in her class had no idea about the theme of the party and when he walked in and caught sight of his daughter he whispered loudly to the little girl's mom, "NICE JOB ON THE OUTFIT TODAY!" She then replied, "It's tacky day! Look at Mia!"

Getting ready to play "Tacky Says" instead of Simon Says
Tacky Penguin Bingo time! It was a great party for the first graders.
Immediately after the first grade party, it was time to head to third grade. The girls just had a good, old fashion holiday party. They played games and ate a snack. There was not an elaborate theme or a crazy craft. I have to admit that it was kind of nice!
I had forgotten about the greatness of Mad Libs until Ally & Maddie came home with a book of them the other day. That activity is HOURS of fun for 8/9 year olds! Ally and Maddie think those things are the best thing they have ever seen. Probably because they can use the words stink, Justin Bieber, any potty words and crazy animals and then come up with the funniest stories ever. We have even done a few as a family over the dinner table and it ends up with fits of giggles from everyone (including Rob).
Still mad libbing it. . .
Silly third graders. This is what happens when you have to wait until the end of the day for your party and then you load up on donut holes and apple juice.
Time to play Pictionary. It was a daunting task when you are learning to play in front of your whole class and you have to go first!
Poor brother. . .he had to attend all of the parties, but he couldn't participate in anything. Thankfully, he had packed a bag full of snacks and could use my phone to pass the time. It's hard to believe that next year I will be attending his Kindergarten party, too!
